"Peaceways 2010 Recap"

For this last issue of Peaceways newsletter 2010, I have decided to recap the articles that were published this year.

I started off the year writing about eco‐consciousness in a piece entitled Widening our circle of compassion that was written on 31 December 2009.  It was written to elevate the consciousness of the Peaceways newsletter readers, to possibly increase and diversify the readership, encourage holistic thinking (quantum thinking) as opposed to Newtonian/classical thinking that is prevalent in the "green" movement.  The article also set the stage for the two follow‐up pieces on CFLs (see below).

My next article was published in March and it veered from the topic of CFLs.  It had been a work in progress since 2008 but I decided in January that it was past time for me to break the silence.  A History of "Earth Day" was written after I discovered that I had been celebrating Earth Day in the wrong month!

The following month, Facts about Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs, my first piece on Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs was published.  For this article, I went above and beyond the Mercury (Hg) content of CFLs to present facts that consumers, government officials, and the media may not know about the energy‐efficient light bulbs but should know for safety, environmental, and health hazard reasons.
