Peace Be With You

The role of Arts and Music in schools has decreased over the years for lack of funding primarily, which hurts our children and the community at large.  So we as artists and artisans should strive to keep art in the public and outdoors so that everyone can benefit.  One such way is to talk with business owners to inquire about creating murals on their exterior walls, painting their trash and recycle bins, and/or contributing to the urban garden movement in Lexington.

It is a way for us to reconnect with Nature; to grow and eat fresh locally grown produce; create a positive transformation in the youth; reduce flooding; and add color and life to parks, our neighborhoods and community centers, businesses, and our lives.  Two simple ways in which this can be done are creating art from found objects and giving new life to containers (wood, plastic, metal, clay, rubber, recycled materials, "trash", etc.) through art.

One method of urban gardening that can take place indoors or outdoors is "container gardening."  It can be used to grow anything that you desire and can be rearranged to stay in tune with Mother Nature, move your crops out of harms way, or for decorative reasons.
